Haida Picture Appreciation | April 2025
This month's Picture Appreciation is here, let's appreciate some amazing photos taken by our excellent official Haida Ambassadors with Haida filters!
The photo is entitled “BROKEN COAST” and was taken in northern Spain during a workshop I was leading.
As it was already quite dark during the shoot, I only used the GND 0.9 Red-Diamond to darken the sky.

The rocky coast of Tenerife often offers interesting landscapes where you can use long exposure times. The numerous lighthouses are great photo subjects.

This location was the last stop on my recent photography trip. Unfortunately, the trip hadn’t been very successful, as the weather didn’t cooperate. My final hope was this sunrise in Bled, and the forecast looked very promising.
I debated whether to hike up to the famous viewpoint on the hill or stay by the water. Since no fog was expected, I decided to remain at the lakeside—and it turned out to be the right choice. The conditions were absolutely perfect. It was a truly unforgettable moment.

A magical sunrise in El Chalten with the impressive Fitz Roy in the background, Patagonia Argentina. For this image I use the CPL and the Soft Gradient to dark a bit the sky on my Sony 12-24 mm F9 shutter 0.4 seconds and ISO 100.

This tranquil waterfall in Gjáin, tucked within the Þjórsárdalur Valley, beautifully balances the motion of flowing water with the lush vibrancy of its surroundings. Captured with a Sony A7RV and a 16-35mm lens at f/6.3, 0.5 seconds, and ISO 800, the Haida 10-stop ND with CPL helps achieve a silky, ethereal effect in the water. I opted for a slightly lower aperture to create a shallower depth of field compared to f/8 or higher, allowing the rich textures and colors of the foreground to stand out. This draws the viewer’s eye into the scene, adding depth and contrast to the cascading falls in the background.
