Haida Picture Appreciation | March 2025
This month's Picture Appreciation is here, let's appreciate some amazing photos taken by our excellent official Haida Ambassadors with Haida filters!
In winter in Fukushima Prefecture, low pressure systems cause high waves in the Sea of Japan, some of which can even exceed the height of Benkei Rock, a popular tourist spot.

This spot is definitely the least famous of those I visited this summer: the locations that are not yet crowded, in addition to being much more pleasant, leave the photographer greater freedom of expression (since you are not already influenced by thousands of photos seen on social media).
I visited the place several times, as the first few times I always found a very dull sky and without the structure I wanted for this shot.
When the bad weather finally arrived, I decided to take a long exposure, in order to emphasize the contrast between the smoothness of the water and the rough and sharp details of the cliff.
I used the Haida ND1.8 to create the smoothness of the water, and Haida Red Diamond GND0.9 medium to equalize the sky and the foreground.

This photograph was captured in Connemara National Park, a stunning region in western Ireland known for its rugged mountains, vast peat bogs, moors, and serene lakes. Situated in County Galway, Connemara boasts breathtaking landscapes that showcase Ireland’s natural beauty.
The image features Pine Island on Derryclare Lough, bathed in the warm hues of an autumn sunrise.

This Winter has been so cold, and even Niagara River was frozen. In this freezing dawn, I visited Niagara Falls and tried to capture the powerful waterfalls with the strong winter vibes. Since the daylight was already bright, it's hard to get a long exposure shot of the running water, however, I had a powerful tool, Haida ND filters. With the help of Haida Red Diamond ND filter 6 stops, I was able to get a 10s shutter speed, that made it so smooth and silky.

On this sunny day, I decided to visit a canyon to photograph this waterfall. Getting there was a real adventure – and it stayed that way until the very end!
For the shot, I had to position my camera as low as possible, just above the water’s surface, to capture the perfect perspective.
For the long exposure, I used the Haida M15 Magnetic NanoPro CPL and a Red Diamond ND 0.9 filter. This allowed me to smooth out the falling water beautifully with a 10-second exposure.
To emphasize the foreground texture, I took an additional shot with a shorter shutter speed of 1/13 second, capturing more details in the image.
