Haida Picture Appreciation | April 2026

This month's Picture Appreciation is here, let's appreciate some amazing photos taken by our excellent official Haida Ambassadors with Haida filters!

4月摄影师作品欣赏NewsLette-横2.jpgI took the photograph entitled “MORNING LIGHT” in Asturias, Spain.

I used the ND 0.9 drop-in filter in combination with a 0.9 GND filter from the Red Diamond series.

The photo shows the dramatic landscape of Malin Head at sunset. Rugged, rocky cliffs drop steeply into the turbulent Atlantic Ocean, where waves crash forcefully against sharp rock formations, creating white foam and swirling currents in shades of turquoise and green.
The central perspective draws the eye into a natural inlet, emphasizing the power and wildness of the location. Above the horizon, a heavy, dramatic sky stretches, filled with dark clouds, pierced by the last, muted rays of the setting sun.
Altogether, the scene captures the raw, untamed beauty of Ireland’s northernmost point.

The Icelandic Westfjords are full of abandoned things… and I have to admit, I love that.
These forgotten places tell a different story, far from mass tourism, far from the present.
Here, this ship has been stranded since 1981. Built in Norway in 1912, it was Iceland’s first steel-hulled vessel. Today, all that remains is a rusted shell, frozen in place facing the ocean.

When I photograph scenes like this, I feel as if I’m being projected into the future.
As if, through my viewfinder, I’m catching a glimpse of what will remain of our civilization after we’re gone.
A world without us, where only traces endure, slowly consumed by wind, rust, and silence.

At the rate we are destroying our ecosystem, this scenario is no longer science fiction.
Mother Nature is simply waiting for her moment. She will reclaim what is hers inevitably.

4月摄影师作品欣赏NewsLette-横3.jpgHaífoss
It’s one of the highest waterfalls in Iceland. Haífoss can be challenging to capture, depending on the position of the sun. Parts can be in deep shadow. But if the time is right, and the sun is in the right position, a rainbow can be seen. I removed the polarization filter to get a full view of the rainbow and used the Red Diamond ND1.8 filter to achieve a shutterspeed that retained some detail in the water.

Cold Steam
This shot was taken during one of the coldest days in Toronto, the temperature dropped to -27 degree Celsius. Due to the sudden temperature drop from the night before, there's lots of steam coming off the surface of Lake Ontario. In the meanwhile, many highrise buildings also had lots of steam due to temperature difference. I used my favorite Haida filters and had a 120s long exposure, this amazing filter system helped me capture these dreamy steams so well.
