Haida Picture Appreciation | March 2026

This month's Picture Appreciation is here, let's appreciate some amazing photos taken by our excellent official Haida Ambassadors with Haida filters!

Winter is ending, but this year I hadn’t yet gone to the old refuge in the mountains not far from my house... A place I love, but where the climate can be harsh and extremely changeable. It often happens that you go with the sun, but then, when you are there, not being able to take even a photo due to a sudden worsening of the weather!
There was a lot of ice, and I had to climb up with crampons... but both the sunset and the sunrise completely repaid every effort!

横版-Ed-Flordeliz.jpgA crisp day high in the Cascade Range with Mount Tahoma standing tall beneath a sky filled with lenticular clouds. The air was cold and clear, and as the sun dropping toward the horizon, one lenticular cloud hanging just above it, catching the last light of the day. I used the Haida M10-II system with a GND 0.9 and CPL combo to balance the bright sky and cut through the atmospheric haze, allowing the layered clouds and the mountain to stand out with more depth and contrast. One of those quiet mountain moments where everything just lines up for a few minutes before the light fades.

When I arrived at the beach, the first thing that caught my attention was the rock in the distance, but the photo really started to work when I looked down. A small stream of water left by the receding tide created a natural line leading straight toward it.

I lowered the camera almost to the sand and used a wide-angle lens to give prominence to the foreground rock and create depth. The idea was simple: let the viewer enter the image through the textures of the wet sand, follow the line of water, and end at the silhouette of the rock against the sky.

In landscape photography, it’s often not about finding a spectacular place, but about letting the terrain itself guide the composition. That’s exactly what happened here.

Mid-December, northern Finland. Small river still partly open but building up ice-cover. Smooth, soft light combined to fresh snow cover creates mystical scenery. I’m using soft gradual ND-filter to manage dynamic range and ND8 to remove ripples from the water and bringing up the reflection.

In an idyllic setting in southern Thailand, there was a sunset with very soft light. The mood could be further enhanced with a long exposure time.
