I have been using the Haida PRO II CPL-VND 2 in 1 filter for over 6 months and I must say,I'm thoroughly impressed with this system. I first had the opportunity to test it in Scotland's wild landscape with its many lochs (Lakes), which offered a very challenging environment with its constantly changing light conditions.Despite this, The Haida PRO II CPL-VND 2 in 1 filter performed exceptionally well.
In terms of image quality, the results are excellent. I found no colour casting when editing in post. The variable neutral density filter has been very useful for controlling the exposure in various lighting conditions, even in Scotland's challenging environment with its rapidly changing light. The polarising filter did a great job in reducing reflections and increasing colour saturation, helping to bring out the natural beauty of the lochs and their surroundings. The build quality of the filter feels robust and also fits perfectly on my 82mm lens. I tried the PRO II CPL-VND 2 in 1 out on a woodland photography shoot and was very impressed, with the soft light the images were seamlessly controlled using the ND longer exposure times, allowing a little movement in the leaves creating a softer background and utilising the polariser to bring out the vibrant contrast of the scene.
It has been a great addition to my camera bag and has made my workflow smoother and more efficient. The integration of a variable neutral density filter and a circular polarizing filter into one component saves me time and make the process more fluid. I no longer have to switch between filters or worry about vignetting as I mount additional filters. This PROII CPL-VND 2 in 1 also helps with the human element of using filters when you have cold hands on a winter's morning. It more or less eliminates the awkward trying to pick out and hold the filters while worrying about dropping it, and let's face it we all know someone who has dropped at least one filter, myself included. It's just a smooth twist of the filter to the desired ND setting and its back to the image. The filter is very easy to clean too, when removing rain and dust from the surface it just wipes clean off, and without leaving any residual marks.
I would say it's the perfect addition to any camera bag, even more so when you are using a day pack or have a smaller shoulder bag, where every millimetre of that prime space has to be utilised once you have your camera and lens in it's position. The filter is perfect if you are new to photography and are looking to add affordable filters into your creative workflow. The Haida PRO II CPL-VND 2 in 1 filter maybe small in size but its large in stature. You get a convenient innovative design at a very low cost.
Conclusion
I highly recommend the Haida PRO II CPL-VND 2 in 1 filter to anyone looking for a versatile and convenient solution to manage exposure and control reflections in their photography or videography. Its performance in Scotland's wild landscape is a testament to its quality and versatility.
